: EVERY MOMENT IS LOVELY, YES :

Steak

I've opened a new document on my computer, and I want to type, and I hear you in the kitchen talking to the cat, "You hungry? You want some food? Okay, in a minute," and I hear you turn on the water, and it's pouring into the sink, and then you turn on some music, and I hear you rustling through a plastic bag, and then the clanging of pans, and you sing along to the song, and I hear the clack-clack-clack of your knife chopping something, a tomato I hope, and now something is sizzling and a scent is drifting down the hall, and you announce, in your playful baby voice, "This is so upsetting! Where's the sour cream?" but it's rhetorical and I am typing, recording this brief moment, this 30 seconds of not thinking about anything else but us living our lives. "Babe!" you say. "What?" I say. "You should see this steak," you say.  I've got to go see the steak.

This is wonderfully understated. I like how one can get equally inspired and/or distracted by the sounds and sights of everyday life going on ... when we should really be quite used to them.
